Junior AcademyThe Junior Netball Academy has been set up to give children the chance to have netball coaching on a regular basis throughout the year. The Academy will develop the foundation skills required by young players to assist them to progress to the top of the sport. The Academy runs for three terms of the year, for 9 sessions each term. Each session is one hour long and is taken by a coach who has received specific training in both working with children and in coaching netball. Five of our Academy coaches have all played representative netball at the high performance level. The Academy will run in terms 1, 2 and 3 of the school calendar. Curriculum The curriculum has been written using the latest knowledge of the development of skills from the ages of 8 years up. Using a progression model, each week of the programme reinforces the skills learned in the previous week and introduces the child to new skills or an extension of a previous skill learnt. Each week the curriculum covers 5 areas: Movement skills and fitness, ball skills, shooting, attacking and defending.
