Junior AcademyNetball Waikato welcomes the New World Rototuna and New World Te Rapa as naming right sponsors of the Waikato Junior Netball Academy. The Netball Waikato New World Rototuna and New World Te Rapa Junior Netball Academy has been set up to give children the chance to have netball coaching on a regular basis throughout the year. The Academy will develop the foundation skills required by young players to assist them to progress to the top of the sport. The Academy runs for three terms of the year, for 9 sessions each term. Each session is one hour long and is taken by a coach who has received specific training in both working with children and in coaching netball. Five of our Academy coaches have all played representative netball at the high performance level. The Academy will run in terms 1, 2 and 3 of the school calendar. Curriculum The curriculum has been written using the latest knowledge of the development of skills from the ages of 8 years up. Using a progression model, each week of the programme reinforces the skills learned in the previous week and introduces the child to new skills or an extension of a previous skill learnt. Each week the curriculum covers 5 areas: Movement skills and fitness, ball skills, shooting, attacking and defending. Venues for 2012: The New World Rototuna and New World Te Rapa Junior Netball Academy is being held at: Southwell School Gymnasium (please note entry to the School Gymnasium MUST be from the Peachgrove Road entrance). Junior Academy Dates and costings for 2012:
Annual Registration Fee: $25.00
Term 1: 13th February - 6 April (8 weeks) $90.00
Term 2: 30 April - 29 June (9 weeks) $100.00
Term 3: 23rd July - 21 Sept (9 weeks) $100.00
